About Me

Welcome! I am Dr.Leslie Haines. I am a scholar of long nineteenth-century literature, specializing in British Romantic and Victorian poetry, as well as European Romanticism to Realism, and literary theory. My areas of expertise also include gender studies and the intersection of art and literature. Recently, I have focused my research on gender performativity and eroticism in nineteenth-century poetry, as well as inclusive writing practices in teaching composition.

As an experienced lecturer, I teach a wide range of courses, including First Year Writing, Interdisciplinary Arts, World Literature, Multicultural Literature, and Romantic and Victorian Literature. In my classroom, I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment, where students are encouraged to explore their own identities and perspectives through literature and writing in a global context.

In my free time, I love to travel and explore the outdoors. On this website, I share my experiences in research, teaching, global citizenship, and outdoor adventures. You are welcome to use any of my teaching ideas and materials, as well as any other content that I publish here. However, I kindly request that you cite me as the author if you use or share any of my original research, photographs, or poetry.
